First off I would like to congratulate the 2010 German squad on their third place finish.

After watching the game vs. Ghana where Germany won 1-0, I confidently said that this was the worst German team I’ve ever seen play. They only got better with time and right after that they beat England 4-1 and Argentina 4-0 before falling short to Spain 1-0 in the semi-final match. Do I still think they’re the worst German squad? No I don’t, but they’re definitely not the best. All I know for sure is that they will be a force to be reckoned within two years for the Euro Cup.

As always I have gained and lost respect for some players. Lets start with the latter.

-Özil: Other than that one goal he scored, he hasn’t impressed me at all. He holds on to the ball way too long and he doesn’t shoot enough. In years to come I no doubt believe he will be a great asset to the team, but right now I’m not convinced.
-Jansen: I remember watching him play in either World Cup ‘06 or Euro Cup ‘08 and liking what I saw from him but this year he hasn’t done anything for me.
-Podolski: It’s a real shame adding him to this list because he has potential to be one of those players every team fears. Even though he didn’t score as much as he did in ‘06 and ‘08 he still played quite well. I just wish he would have scored more.

Now for players I gained respect for.
-Klose: I never thought I’d love him more than I already did. The man can play and damn can he score. I’m real sad that he most probably wont be making the 2014 World Cup in Brasil.
-Boateng: Wow, I’m glad he decided to play for Germany and not with his brother in Ghana. He’s a great addition to this young team and I’m glad we’re not playing against him.
-Khedira: When they announced that Ballack wouldn’t be playing in the tournament I was quite worried to say the least. I didn’t think someone could replace him. Khedira surprised me and a lot of people. Not only did he do a great job at replacing Ballack but he also showed everyone that he’s capable of keeping up with the big guys and being their for the team when they need him.
-Müller: The kid is 20 years old. He scored 5 goals and had a few more chances where he could have also scored. He wont be missing those shots in 2012. I am pretty sure this guy will break Ronaldo’s record for most goals. It’s looking like Müller might be my new favourite player in the near future!

I’m excited to see what damage this team will do in the years to come. Bring ‘em on!
